A. Muriel Smith Riley, 93, Stamford Public Schools Educational Assistant

STAMFORD, Conn. - A. Muriel Smith Riley, a longtime Stamford resident, died March 29. She was 93.

Riley was born June 3, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Frank J. Smith and Alice Amerson Smith. She was an educational assistant in Stamford Public Schools.

Riley is survived by her son, Melville T Riley, Jr. of Bridgeport; daughter, Mary Beth Riley of Stamford; two granddaughters; five great grandchildren; brother, C. Donald Smith of Norwalk; sister-in-law, Dolores Smith-Meeker; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Melville; daughter, Maureen S. Riley; brother, F. Kenneth Smith.

Calling hours are Tuesday, April 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 2900 Summer, St., Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 3, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford. Interment will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, Stamford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Riley's memory to St. Cecilia Church.
