Woman Charged in Stamford Coconut Assault

STAMFORD, Conn. — A woman is suspected of hitting another patron over the head with a coconut used to serve drinks at a Stamford night club, police said.

Vannessa Aguilar-Castellon, 19, is suspected of hitting Christina Velez, 25, with the coconut, during an argument after midnight on Monday, police said. The argument started over a guy both women were dancing with at the Palms Night Club, police said.

Aguilar-Castellon was charged with second-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace, and Velez with second-degree breach of peace, police said. Both are expected to appear in court on May 14, police said.

Police did not say if Velez required any medical attention.
