William Andrews, Stamford Magician

STAMFORD, Conn. — William “Bill” Andrews, 91, a retired cosmetics executive, died Monday, July 18, at the Richard Rosenthal Hospice Center in Stamford.

Magic was his passion, and after he retired he became involved with the Society of American Magicians, the British Magic Circle, the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Milbourne Christopher Foundation. He founded the Society of Young Magicians in Stamford about 22 years ago.

He worked for Revlon Cosmetics for 37 years, starting as a salesman and working his way up to division vice president. He worked in several locations before settling in Stamford 46 years ago.

Andrews is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Norris Andrews; four children, Jane Andrews Thames and her husband, Lee Davis Thames, Kay Andrews Payne and her husband, Christopher Payne Jr., Thomas Elliot Andrews and Jeffrey Mitchell Andrews; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 23, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Villa Marie Education Center, 161 Sky Meadow Drive, Stamford. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Richard Rosenthal Hospice Center, 100 Shelburne Road, Stamford.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Leo P. Gallagher  & Son Funeral Home.
