Monday May 21

New Developments in Dementia: 6:15 p.m. U.S. Rep Jim Himes; Maureen Matthews, founder of “To Whom I May Concern;” and Kristen Cusato, of the Alzheimer’s Association, will be at Atria Stamford, 77 Third St., to talk about the latest developments with dementia.

Tuesday May 22

Rich Dad Poor Dad Workshops: 12:30 and 6 p.m. Learn how to buy and trade stocks better with two free seminars. Stamford Marriott, 243 Tresser Blvd.

Stamford Board of Education: 7 p.m. The school board will hold its monthly full board meeting to discuss and decide upon key issues facing the city’s public schools. The meeting will take place in the 5th floor conference room of the Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd.

“Born to Kill” in Stamford: 7:30 p.m. The classic film starring Claire Trevor and Lawrence Tierney will be shown. Tickets are $6 to $11. For more information, visit www.avontheatre.org. Avon Theatre, 272 Bedford St.

Wednesday May 23

Weight Watchers at Fairway Market: 6 p.m. Fairway Market will host a cooking demo featuring recipes from Weight Watchers' "Power Foods,” cookbook. The demo is free to attend, and participants will get a reusable bag and a coupon. Fairway is located at 699 Canal St.

Anti-Bullying Event for Parents: 7 p.m. Mitchell Flaum, Jewish Family Service JFLE coordinator, will teach parents about behaviors that lead to kids being bullied and bullying. The event takes place at the Jewish Community Center, 1035 Newfield Ave.

Stamford Harbor Commission Safety: 7 p.m. The Harbor Commission will hold a special meeting to teach anyone interested in enjoying the harbor safety measures they should know before heading into the water. The meeting will take place on the fourth floor of the Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd.

Thursday May 24

An Evening with Sports Legends: 6:30 p.m. Bucky Dent, Mookie Wilson and other sports figures will help raise funds for the Y.M.C.A. Ensuring Care for you Disabled Loved One: Conservatorship and Mental Illness: 7:30 p.m. Learn all the technicalities into becoming an oversight caretaker at the Tully Health Center, Strawberry Hill Court.

Friday May 25

“Hansel & Gretel:” 7 p.m. The Ballet School of Stamford will be performing a two-act adaptation of the fairy tale. Ticket prices range from $9.50 to $50. Palace Theatre, 61 Atlantic St.

8th Annual Connecticut Salsa Festival: 6 p.m. Hilton Stamford Hotel will host a weekend full of salsa events. All proceeds will go to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. The hotel is located at One First Stamford Place.
