Walter G. Ginter Sr., 90, World War II Veteran

Walter G. Ginter Sr., 90, of Stamford died on May 7.

He served in the South Pacific in World War II, earning the rank of staff sergeant before returning to the U.S. to start Belltown Air Conditioning in Stamford. He operated the company until he retired. He loved to golf and became  club champion at several local golf courses. He was also an avid Red Sox fan.

Ginter is survived by three children, Mary Ann Armstrong and her husband, David, Elizabeth Hogan and Walter Ginter Jr. and his wife, Donna, and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann, and son Robert Ginter.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated June 3 at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Church, 914 Newfield Ave., Stamford. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ginter’s name can be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
