Transformer Damage Knocks Out Power in Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. – About 1,900 Connecticut Light & Power customers in North Stamford found themselves without power Sunday night after a transformer failed.

The transformer on Hunting Ridge Road was damaged after a car hit it a utility pole the night before, Mitch Gross, a spokesman for the power company said. Power was restored to almost all customers by 4 a.m. Monday morning, he said.

As of 3:15 p.m. Monday, only two customers in Stamford were without power, Connecticut Light & Power’s outage report said. Their location was not given.
