FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Hundreds of homes and businesses in Fairfield County lost power Friday in the wake of soaring temperatures as the beginning of a heat wave gripped the region.
Norwalk was the hardest hit city in a list provided by Eversource, with 1,740 customers without power.
Other towns in Fairfield County with outages included (as of 4 p.m.), according to Eversource and United Illuminating:
- Brookfield, 7 customers
- Danbury 9
- Fairfield, 15
- Greenwich, 1
- Monroe, 27
- New Fairfield, 1
- Ridgefield, 4
- Sherman, 408
- Trumbull, 13
- Weston, 10
- Westport, 203
Eversource reported 5,512 customers were without power, less than one percent of its customers. The utility company did not indicate when power would be restored to the affected customers.
