Supreme Court Strikes Down Strict Texas Abortion Ruling

The Supreme Court struck down a Texas court ruling Monday that was one of the nation's toughest in restricting abortion and which led to the closure of half the state's abortion clinics.

The 5-3 decision is a big victory for abortion rights advocates.

The court's decision affects similar laws in 12 other states.

The opinion, written by Justice Stephen Breyer, was joined by Justices Anthony M. Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan.
