Stuck Truck Causes Traffic Jams In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — As drivers on the East Side of Stamford know, the intersection of East Main Street and Myrtle Avenue is tough at the best of times.

But that area right by the railroad underpass was even worse Tuesday after a too-tall truck tried to go under and ended up striking the bridge, police said.

The accident happened at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, and three officers were still on the directing traffic at 2:30 p.m.

The trailer is about torn in half after the truck almost — but not completely — got through. Workers had to empty the whole trailer, and now a large wrecker was working to move the truck out of the intersection.
