Storm Knocks Out Power In Stamford

Update 6:50 p.m.:  STAMFORD, Conn. — Power was being restored in Stamford, with only 530 customers without power as of 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, Connecticut Light & Power reported. That is less than 1 percent of the city's customers. 

Original story: STAMFORD, Conn. — A total of 1,335 Connecticut Light & Power customers, or about 2 percent of Stamford, are without power Tuesday afternoon, according to the utility company’s outage report.

Just more than 12,000 customers or less than 1 percent are without power across the state, CL&P’s power outage report said.

The National Weather Service has issued tornado and high wind warnings for Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning. Wind gusts are expected to be 31 to 39 mph and could reach as high as 57 mph, the warning said.
