Stamford's Cognetta Makes Impact With Keene Basketball

STAMFORD, Conn. – Freshman Kelsey Cognetta of Stamford has made an immediate impact on the women’s basketball team at Keene State in New Hampshire.

Cognetta scored 12 points and played 23 minutes for Keene (4-6) on Tuesday in a 58-57 win over Colby College in the consolation game of the Keene State Holiday Tournament. She grabbed the final rebound when Colby missed a jumper with three seconds left, and Keene ran out the clock.

She also gave Keene a spark in the first half when she scored the final four points for Keene to trim Colby’s 10-point lead to 30-24 entering halftime.

In her first game with Keene on Monday, Cognetta scored six points in 11 minutes in a 72-67 loss to Rivier.

Cognetta was a former star at Stamford High. She joined Keene after transferring from William Paterson in New Jersey.
