Stamford Transit Study Seeks Input From East Side

STAMFORD, Conn. — Residents and business owners on Stamford’s East Side will have a chance to tell developers how to best bring a train station to East Main Street, said a statement from the South Western Regional Planning Agency.

“Community is truly at the heart of this study, as the primary goal is to determine recommendations that meet the community’s needs and wishes,” Craig Lader, project manager for the study for South Western Regional Planning Agency, said in the statement. “This workshop provides an opportunity for neighborhood residents, business owners and community organizations to share their vision for creating a vibrant livable community with transit at its core.”

The East Main Street Transit Node Feasibility Study will look into opportunities for transit-oriented development and to build an intermodal transit facility near the future intersection of East Main Street and the Stamford Urban Transitway. The agency has hired Parsons Brinkerhoff to be the lead firm for the study.

The community meeting will be held at Domus, 83 Lockwood Ave., the old Rogers School, in Stamford, at 7 p.m. June 14. Questions and comments can be sent to Craig Lader by phone at 203-316-5190 or by email to lader@swrpa.org
