Stamford Traffic Stop Ends in Drug Charges

STAMFORD, Conn. — Two men were arrested after they allegedly tried to hide drugs during a traffic stop in Stamford late Monday night, police said.

After stopping their vehicle, officers saw one of the men try to stash something under the seat. Police said it turned out to be cocaine. The officers also found marijuana on the two suspects, police said.

The vehicle was stopped on West Main Street near Roosevelt Avenue for having illegally tinted windows, police said.

Michael Wade Johnson, 31, of Stamford and Rodney Hughes Williamson, 43, of New Haven were each charged with possession of narcotics, sale of illegal drugs, possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana and sale of a controlled substance, police said.  Johnson was also charged with failure to carry a tinted glass sticker identifying car windows as being a legal shade, police said.

Both appeared in court on Tuesday after being unable to post a $50,000 bond, police said.
