Stamford Residents Cope With Power Outages

STAMFORD, Conn. — More than 1,000 customers in Stamford had to deal with power outages Thursday, said Mitch Gross, a spokesman for Connecticut Light & Power.

The first outage took place when wires fell on Lincoln Avenue, causing 970 customers in the city to be without power for nearly an hour and a half, Gross said. CL&P crews fixed the issue and restored power to all of those customers by 11 a.m., he said.

Gross was not sure why the wires fell.

The second outage took place on East Walnut Street, with 353 customers losing power, he said. Gross did not know what caused the outage but said crews were on the scene by 12:30 p.m. and by 2:40 p.m. had restored power.
