STAMFORD, Conn. — The city of Stamford will keep its Emergency Operations Center partially open as a nor’easter is expected to hit the city, a release from the mayor’s office said.
Residents were told to be prepared for strong winds, moderate to heavy rain and potential inland and moderate coastal flooding, the release said. The effects of the storm should begin in Stamford on Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning.
Power outages may be another result of the nor’easter, the release said. As of 2 p.m., 769 Connecticut Light & Power customers in Stamford were still without power from Hurricane Sandy, the utility company’s outage report said.
Residents are reminded to restock emergency supply kits with essential items.
Stamford Public Schools will be open as regularly scheduled Wednesday, after being closed since Oct. 29 because of Hurricane Sandy. There may be storm debris on corners and sidewalks and parents are urged to use caution if their kids ride the bus, the release said.
The city will begin collecting debris Monday, starting in North Stamford and working south, the release said. Contact the Citizen’s Service Center with any questions or concerns at 203-977-4140.
Residents and businesses that suffered damage due to Hurricane Sandy can register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency by visiting its website or calling 800-621-FEMA (3362).
