STAMFORD, Conn. A Stamford man suspected of strangling a woman in April was arrested Monday afternoon on a warrant, Lt. Diedrich Hohn said.
According to the victim, Larry Donell Simms, 43, had followed her home from Black Bear Saloon on April 21, and once inside her house pushed her down and choked her until she passed out, Hohn said. The woman woke up in her bed the next day and remained in her West Side apartment with him coming and going for two days before reporting it to police on April 23, Hohn said.
The lieutenant said she was scared of what Simms would do if she left, which is why she did not report the incident sooner.
The two dated a few times, but the relationship was not sexual, and she attempted to end it prior to the incident, Hohn said. The suspect had called the victim several times that night and did confront her earlier that night, he said.
Simms, of 17 Renwick St., Stamford, was charged with first-degree kidnapping, second-degree strangulation, first-degree unlawful restraint, second-degree stalking, third-degree assault, and second-degree threatening, police said. His bond was set at $100,000, police said.
