Martin, joined by state Sen. Carlo Leone and Toys for Tots coordinator George Ducanic, expressed appreciation for the efforts of numerous local organizations.

Specifically mentioned by Martin were: American Legion Post 3, the Lock City Detachment Marine Corps League of Veterans, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, the Springdale VFW Post 9617, the Jewish War Veterans Post 142, and the Catholic War Veterans Post 1957.

Their partnership has, the mayor said, bought “joy to so many.”

He also thanked Ducanic, who has been the Toys for Tots local coordinator officer for 23 years.

In 2011, Ducanic’s division was named National Toys for Tots Campaign of the Year by the national organization.

Martin dedicated the 2015 campaign to the memory of longtime volunteer and World War II U.S. Navy veteran John E. LoRusso, for, the mayor said, “his kind assistance to the children of this community.”

Proclaiming December Toys for Tots month, Martin urged residents “to to help make this a happy and memorable Christmas season for the children in our community.”
