Stamford Marina to Open in Time for Summer

STAMFORD, Conn. — With the traditional start of summer taking place with Memorial Day weekend, Building and Land Technology will be opening Skip Gardella Marina at Harbor Point Friday at the site of the former Brewer’s Yacht Haven West.

"This new marina allows us to serve Stamford-area boaters most conveniently, and we're dedicated to assisting them with all of their needs,” L.N. “Skip” Gardella said in a press release adding he is happy to be opening in time for the boating season.

The marina comes to Stamford to fill the need the area had since Building and Land Technology decided not to renew its lease with Brewer’s Yacht Haven West in order to remediate and re-build the property. After the remediation work is complete, the developer plans to add a new complete boatyard to the location, the release said.

Working on an interim basis, the marina will offer fueling services daily, emergency hauling 24-hours a day, non-emergency hauling and launching weekdays and maintenance and repair work offered weekdays, the marina’s website said.

Gardella was announced as the operator of the “interim” boatyard at a Stamford Zoning Board meeting in April. His agreement with Building and Land Technology is tentatively 24 months depending on the remediation work being done to the site is complete, Gardella also expressed interest in operating the boatyard once the work is complete, he said back in April.

In addition to the Stamford marina, he also is the owner/operator of Norwalk Marine Contractors, and his family has served the boating community for more than 75 years, including running the Norwalk Cove Marina and Rex Marine Center, the release said.
