Stamford Man Held in Threat to Obama

A Stamford man was arrested Thursday by Greenwich police on charges of threatening President Barack Obama.

The man was first taken into custody by the Secret Service after he allegedly left letters threatening the president at the Greenwich Democratic Town Committee's Cos Cob headquarters. Obama visited Stamford and Greenwich Thursday to raise money for U.S. Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal.

Greenwich police arrested Joseph Antonelli, of 3 Dean St. in Stamford, on three counts of disorderly conduct. He was initially held on a $10,000 bond, but appeared in court on Friday. Department spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray said Antonelli's arrest warrant has been sealed.

Democratic Town Committee Chairman Frank Farricker said three letters were left at party headquarters last week, according to published reports. Antonelli was reportedly seen outside committee headquarters Wednesday morning dropping off the third letter. He was taken into custody by the Secret Service and questioned. Police say no additional information will be available until the warrant is unsealed.
