Stamford Man Gets 30 Months for Selling Drugs

STAMFORD, Conn. – Guiverson Joseph, 21, of Stamford, has been sentenced to 30 months of imprisonment followed by five years of supervised release for distributing crack cocaine, a press release from U.S. State Attorney David B. Fein’s office said.

Joseph was arrested in December 2009 when an investigation found that he purchased about 332 grams of crack cocaine in New York, and then sold it in smaller quantities, the release said. About $11,321 in cash and 11 cellphones were seized from his Merrell Avenue apartment during his arrest, the release said.

He pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to distribute 50 grams of crack cocaine in April of 2010, the release said. This was his first arrest.

His arrest was part of the investigation, “Operation Big Loot,” which led to 52 arrests in state and federal court for various narcotic offenses related to the sale of crack cocaine in the greater Stamford area, the release said. Approximately $165,000 in cash, one kilogram of cocaine, two kilograms of crack cocaine, five firearms and several vehicles were seized during the operation, the release said.

“Operation Big Loot” was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and the Stamford Police Narcotics and Organized Crime division, the release said.
