Stamford Man Accused of Hitting Pregnant Wife

STAMFORD, Conn. — A Stamford man was charged with beating his pregnant wife early Sunday, police said.

Joel Pinol-Turuy, 29, got into an argument with his wife at 6 p.m. Saturday, police said. She took his house key and threw him out, police said. He returned at 3:40 a.m., banging on windows and doors until she let him in, police said. Once inside, he pushed his wife onto the bed, pulled her hair and punched her in the forehead, police said. They said she also injured her back.

Pinol-Turuy was charged with assaulting a pregnant woman and risk of injury to a child because the couple’s three other children were there when the incident took place.

Also in the police blotter:

• David Castanaza, 47, of Stamford was arrested after going home drunk Sunday morning and slapping his wife in the face, police said. He was charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree assault, risk of injury to a child and violation of a protective order.

• Jennifer Buhler, 23, of Stamford was arrested Saturday night on charges of disorderly conduct, fourth-degree criminal mischief and interfering with an emergency call, police said.
