Stamford First Bank Plans 'Shred Day'

STAMFORD, Conn. – With horror stories of identity theft popping up in the news every day, many people are justifiably worried about putting papers containing personal information into the curbside blue recycling bin. Shredding your documents before recycling them is a good preventive measure, but not everyone has the time or equipment to do so.

One solution is the second annual "Shred Day" hosted by Stamford First Bank on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. until noon. The bank will provide free on-site shredding services at its offices at 612 Bedford St.

The bank encourages Stamford residents to take the opportunity to securely dispose of old disks, credit cards, passports, bills, invoices, checks, statements or other personal papers. Individuals are asked to limit their items to two 2-foot-square boxes. For additional information, visit the bank's Website.
