Stamford Developer Buys General Re Building

STAMFORD, Conn. — A 614,000-square-foot office complex at 695 E. Main St. in Stamford has been acquired by Building and Land Technology, the company that developed Harbor Point in Stamford’s South End.

The building previously served as the North American headquarters for General Reinsurance

"We anticipate this office complex, once revitalized, will draw businesses to the Central Business District and, as with Harbor Point, will fuel Stamford's evolution as a modern live, work and play city,” Carl Kuehner III, chief executive officer of Building and Land Technology, said in a press release.

The building will be renamed the BLT Finance Centre and will undergo extensive renovations, the release said. Building and Land Technology says the building would be suitable as a corporate headquarters for a single tenant or as office space for several businesses.

Newmark Knight Frank has been retained to find potential tenants. The firm previously found tenants for Harbor Point properties.
