Route 7 claimed another life early Sunday morning when O'Neil S. Medley, 36, of Hope Street lost control of his motorcycle on a sharp curve and struck a guard rail. State police at Troop L Barracks in Litchfield said Medley died aboard a LifeStar helicopter en route to St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury.
Medley was wearing a helmet when he struck the wire rail in the southbound lane in Kent. Police said speed may have been a factor in the accident, which occurred in an area with a 40 to 45 miles per hour limit.
