Stamford Area Agency Gets Scholarship Grant

Person-to-Person has received a $15,000 grant to help provide college scholarships for students from Stamford and surrounding communities. The grant comes from longtime P2P supporter the Frederick H. Leonhardt Fund – The New York Community Trust.

Darien-based P2P has helped more than 700 college students over the past five years, according to board member Rebecca Wilson, who is also chair of the Scholarship Program Committee. During that time the agency has awarded more than $1.6 million in scholarship aid, Wilson said.

“This grant is an important one and we appreciate the fact that they have chosen to approve this funding once again,” Wilson said. “The Scholarship Program offers an enormous return on investment by creating a lifetime of possibility for young adults who might not otherwise be able to realize their goal of higher education.”

P2P’s service region includes Stamford and other Fairfield County municipalities. The organization focuses on providing emergency assistance and additional aid to individuals and families.
