Social Security Office In Stamford To Close Temporarily

STAMFORD, Conn. — Starting Friday, the Social Security office in Stamford will suspend walk-in service to the public for two months for office repairs.

Employees working out of the Stamford office will be moved to other offices in New Haven, Bridgeport and Danbury to do Stamford work, a statement from the office said.

Many of the services the Social Security Administration performs can be done online, including:

? Filing for retirement, disability and/or spouse’s benefits;

? Checking the status of a benefit application;

? Changing an address and/or phone number, if you receive monthly benefits;

? Signing up for direct deposit of Social Security benefits;

? Using the agency benefit planners to help better understand Social Security protection in planning one’s financial future and then using the benefit calculators to figure monthly benefit amounts;

? Requesting a replacement Medicare card.

Visit the Social Security website for contact information to the other offices.
