Private Memorial Planned for Teen Killed in Crash

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – A private memorial service for Maggie Radford, 17, of Croton, will be held in the future, the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home in Croton said.

Radford was killed in a one-car crash in Port Chester just after 9 p.m. Sunday. Radford was driving on the on-ramp to Interstate 95 northbound from Interstate 287, when her BMW 328i spun out of control and hit a tree.

The passenger in the car, Celia Sprouse, 16, of Stamford, Conn., remained in critical but stable condition at Westchester Medical Center.

“We’re not going to know for a couple days, the full extent of her injuries, until the doctors wake her,” said Investigator Matt Manza, of the New York State Police.

Croton-Harmon School District officials began offering grief counseling for high school students Monday morning. Radford was primarily homeschooled but attended Croton-Harmon for a short time during her junior year in 2010 and 2011.
