Power Restored in Most of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — Most of the power has been returned to Stamford and Greenwich, Connecticut Light & Power’s storm report said. Many outages were reported in both cities after a Stamford substation lost power Wednesday morning, said Mitch Gross, a representative of the utility company.

The failure at the substation began a chain reaction with other stations on its transmission line, Gross said. Work crews from the utility company were dealing with the issue, and the number of outages was dropping, he said.

The number of outages is less than 1 percent of Stamford and about 2 percent of Greenwich, CL&P’s outage report says. Earlier, there were more than 6,400 outages in Stamford and more than 12,600 in Greenwich, the report said.
