Sanh Truong, of Square Acre Drive, was not in a crosswalk when he was hit by a Toyota Prius while crossing from west to east near Burger King at 11:25 p.m., the Advocate said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He was not carrying any identification, and it took many hours for Stamford Police to identify him.

Truong is known for maintaining beautiful gardens on his property. He also got coffee grinds from a nearby diner to cultivate his garden and collected bottles from a nearby diner, the Advocate said.
The driver of the Prius is a 65-year-old Stamford resident who stayed at the scene and was cooperating with police.
