FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. Train service has been returned to one of two Amtrak lines from New York to Boston, a statement said. Service was halted Monday morning after a tree fell and knocked down overhead wires near tracks in Guilford.
Crews were working to open the second track. Trains between Boston and New York were operating normally by Monday afternoon, though more congestion and delays were expected because of the problems with the second line.
Amtrak is offering refunds and rebooking for future travel to anyone who already paid and wants to change travel arrangements without any fees or penalties, the release said.
Service between New York City and Washington, D.C., was not affected by the outage.
