One Injured in Stamford Shooting

STAMFORD, Conn. — Police are searching for the people responsible for a shooting on Stamford’s West Side just before 7:30 p.m. Monday, Lt. Diedrich Hohn said.

Three males were walking on Selleck Street when a black four-door car pulled up next to them and fired off several rounds, hitting one of the three in his right leg, Hohn said. One of the people in the victim’s group returned fire as the vehicle took off, Hohn said.

The victim, 21, of Stamford is in stable condition and was to undergo surgery Tuesday at Stamford Hospital, Hohn said.

Police have several suspects in mind, as there has been a feud between two factions on the West Side dating to a December shooting, Hohn said. Since then, there have been several assaults and shootings stemming from it, he said.

Police believe six or seven shots were fired but have found only two .380 bullet casings, Hohn said. The bullet has not yet been removed from the victim’s leg, he said.

A 16-year-old was detained Monday night, but police did not have enough evidence to charge him, Hohn said. Neither the victim nor the juvenile has given any information to police, which has become a common occurrence in the feud, he said.

Hohn said this incident was not related to the one that took place Sunday night in the city’s South End.
