No Injuries in Stamford Pickup Truck Blaze

Two passengers escaped unhurt from a pickup truck that burst into flames on Washington Boulevard Monday, Stamford Fire and Rescue officers at the scene said.

"It was amazing. The engine compartment wasn't damaged, just the back of the truck," said Officer Todd Brennan, who rode Engine 5 to the fire that erupted around 3:55 p.m. "There were four tires in the back that caught on fire which caused the heavy black smoke."

The driver and passenger of the burned truck are New York City residents and were unavailable for comment.
