No Injuries, 10 Displaced in Stamford Fire

STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford Fire & Rescue extinguished a fire at a two-family home on Lockwood Avenue at around 2:40 p.m. Monday, Deputy Chief Tim Conroy said.

A fire was started on the second floor, damaging the ceiling, and making its way to the roof before being “knocked out,” by myriad firefighters, Conroy said. A series of 9-1-1 calls were made reporting smoke in the house just after 2 p.m., he said.

“We knew we had a fire at that point,” Conroy said, adding that 26 firefighters and multiple vehicles, including four engines were sent to the scene. A second alarm was called in by the deputy, which brought eight more firefighters and more vehicles to put out the blaze, he said.

There were 10 people living in the house, but no one was injured. The American Red Cross will be assisting the two families, the deputy chief said.

Conroy was unsure of how the fire started.
