Two parents in Stamford received a scare on the Fourth of July, when their 7-year-old son went temporarily missing, leading to a swift and effective police response.
Members of the Stamford Police Department received a report on Wednesday morning from a mother and father who reported their son missing from a downtown high-rise apartment building. Police said that upon speaking with the parents they were told that “the child had never run away or gone off on his own, so they were concerned.”
According to police, while they did not know where the child was located, they determined that one of his favorite department stores downtown was his favorite, so that’s where the canvas started.
Armed with the knowledge of his favorite store and a description of his clothing - a red t-shirt that read “In My Defense I Was Left Unsupervised” - investigating officers quickly tracked down the youngster at the store and he was quickly returned to his concerned parents.
On Facebook, the department posted “the shirt he was wearing made the officers laugh. This story has a happy ending but clearly comes under the heading of ‘Truth is Stranger Than Fiction.’”
