Minerva Muniz, Stamford School Bus Driver

Stamford resident Minerva Muniz was one of those special people entrusted with the care of neighborhood children. As a school bus driver, Muniz proudly carried out her responsibility.

Muniz, who had a special affinity for kids and was a grandmother of 15, died Dec. 11 at Stamford Hospital. She was 68.

Muniz was born April 29, 1942, in Puerto Rico. She had lived in Stamford since 1961. She worked eight years as a school bus driver for Laidlaw Bus Co.

In addition to her grandchildren, Muniz is survived by daughters Aida Rivera of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Luz Perez and Nancy Perez of Stamford; sons Edwin Perez of Hawaii and Angel Perez of Stamford; and two brothers, five sisters and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers.

The family will receive callers from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, followed by a funeral service at noon. Burial will be private.
