Man Nabbed with Fake Prescription in Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. – A New York man was arrested after trying to pass fake prescriptions for pain medication at the pharmacy at Stamford’s Target Thursday evening, police said.

The pharmacist called police after receiving a prescription from Kenneth Alvin Briggs, 51, which was not verified by the doctor who prescribed the medication. The prescription was for Oxycodone, which treats moderate to severe pain, Drugs.com said. Briggs was arrested when he went back to pick up the filled prescription, police said.

Another false prescription for Oxycodone was found in his possession when he was being booked, police said. The doctor said that they did not have Briggs as a patient, police said.

Briggs, of Wards Island, N.Y., was charged with two counts of second degree forgery and attempt to commit possession of narcotics, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 3, police said.

? Rodney Gay, 45, of 479 Elm St. in Stamford, was charged with third degree assault, second degree breach of peace, violation of a protective order, and second degree threatening, police said.

? Ricky Daniel, 32, of 18 Woodrow St. in Stamford, was charged with four counts of failing to register his address for being convicted of sexual assault, police said.

? John Reese, 23, of 38 Connecticut Ave. in Stamford, was arrested for failing to insure a private motor vehicle, illegal use of tinted glass and possession of a controlled substance, police said.
