Man In Wheelchair Who Robbed Stamford Jewelry Store Gets 6 Years In Prison

STAMFORD, Conn. — The Waterbury man who rolled into a jewelry store at the Stamford Town Center in a wheelchair then got up and ran out with a $37,000 Rolex Daytona watch was sentenced Wednesday to six years in prison, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Larry Johnson, 37, pleaded guilty in September to first-degree robbery, assault and larceny in the Aug. 2, 2014, robbery at the the Sidney Thomas jewelry store on the fifth floor, the Advocate said.

Johnson, who has a long criminal record, sprayed mace on an employee and a security guard, whom he also knocked to the ground, the Advocate said.
