STAMFORD, Conn. A Bridgeport man was turned over to Stamford police Monday to face a second count of stealing baby formula from Target, Sgt. Simon Blanc said.
William McNeil, 26, was first arrested on March 20 and charged with attempting to steal baby formula from the store. After his arrest, a security guard told police someone had taken baby formula from the store several days earlier, Blanc said.
After analyzing security footage, police determined that McNeil was responsible for the earlier theft, which involved 38 cans of formula worth over $700. They obtained an arrest warrant, and McNeil, who had been incarcerated in Bridgeport, was turned over to Stamford police when he was taken to Stamford to appear in court. Stamford police were not sure why the suspect was being held in Bridgeport.
Both charges against McNeil are for fifth-degree larceny, Blanc said.
