Local Resident Pleads to Firearm Breach

Craig Dralle, 36, of Broad Street in Stamford, on Tuesday pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to a release from the office of David B. Fein, U.S. attorney for the District of Connecticut. According to the release, Dralle waived his right to indictment prior to entering the plea before senior U.S. District Judge Warren W. Eginton in Bridgeport.

The Stamford Police Department, in conjunction with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, investigated the case as part of Stamford's Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative. The initiative enlists community members and organizations, along with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, to improve the safety of residents by reducing gun and gang violence and illegal possession of guns. It is a violation of federal law for a person to knowingly possess ammunition or a firearm that has traveled in foreign or interstate commerce.

In 1998, Dralle was convicted of conspiring to distribute cocaine. The conviction occurred in U.S. District Court in Connecticut. Last year, on Dec. 27, Dralle possessed a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun, according to the release. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert M. Spector is prosecuting the case.
