STAMFORD, Conn. World-renowned jazz guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli will kick off the annual Jazz Up July summer concert series in Downtown Stamford Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.
The concert series will take place on consecutive Wednesdays until Aug. 1 when seven-time Grammy Award-winning artist Al Jarreau headlines, a news release from Stamford Downtown said.
On July 18, Preservation Hall will headline, with Brother Joscephus and the Love Revival Revolution Orchestra opening.
Stamfords own Richard Cookie Thomas will open for Spyro Gyra for the third performance on July 25.
Opening for Jarreau will be Lao Tizer.
Admission is free for the first three weeks and the Aug. 1 concert with Jarreau will have a $10 ticket price, the release said. Children 12 and under are free to attend every week.
Similar to Alive@Five there will be one entrance on Main Street near the end of Summer Street heading into Columbus Park. If it rains the night of a concert it will be moved indoors to the Palace Theater, 61 Atlantic St.
