High Ridge Road Reopens After Crash Near The Merritt In Stamford

update: STAMFORD, Conn. — High Ridge Road in Stamford reopened at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday after a car crash took down power lines near the Merritt Parkway, Stamford Police said via Twitter.

original story: STAMFORD, Conn. — High Ridge Road was closed in both directions at the Merritt Parkway on Wednesday afternoon, Stamford police said. 

The closure was due to a car accident in the area, police said. Wires were down across the road in the area, police said. The accident was reported at about 3 p.m., police said.

High Ridge Road is Exit 35 off the Merritt Parkway. It was not clear how long the road would be closed in the area. 

Motorists are urged to use detours in the area.
