Near and Far Aid is an all-volunteer run organization committed to providing funding to programs that address the causes and effects of poverty in the community.
The funds will support Inspirica's mission to break the cycle of homelessness by helping people achieve and maintain permanent housing and stability in their lives.
Many dont realize the extent of homelessness in lower Fairfield County. On the night of Jan. 29, 2014 when the Point in Time Survey was conducted, 3,571 people were living in shelters and transitional housing across Connecticut, including 775 children from 458 families. The number of homeless in the Stamford and Greenwich area has increased 43 percent in the past two years compared to 6 percent statewide.
In the face of this challenge, Inspirica makes a measurable impact. Individuals and families come to Inspirica, homeless and destitute, unable to meet their most basic needs. They emerge with jobs, permanent housing and the ability to provide for themselves and their families. Over the past four years, a comprehensive approach to serving clients has led to Inspirica making a record 680 job placements and helping a record 537 people who were homeless find permanent housing.
The support from Near and Far Aid will allow Inspirica to continue to change the lives of hundreds of men, women and children, moving them from the streets to health, jobs, homes -- and dignity.
