Abbey Meany, 27, of Stamford was killed after she jumped onto I-95's left lane from the Main Street overpass at Exit 9 at around 11:46 a.m. Thursday, according to State Police.
A friend from Meany's teenage years told the Stamford Advocate that Meany was a "charismatic" and "lovely person" who was "chronically miserable." Meany was a single mother who lived in Norwalk for many years before moving to Stamford, the Stamford Advocate reported.
Others who knew the single mother described her as "sweet" and "wonderful," according to the Stamford Advocate.
State Police said Meany died of severe head trauma. She was also hit by a car on I-95, but it's unclear whether she was already dead. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact manner and cause of death, police said.
The case remains an active investigation, police said.
