Free Money Advice Offered at Stamford Forum

Free is a price everyone can afford, and on April 30 Stamford residents can learn how to afford more at Stamford Financial Planning Day. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at UConn-Stamford.

The event will give people a chance to meet with financial planners and ask about budgeting, getting out of debt, determining income taxes, paying for college and much more, a statement says. The advice will be given on a “no strings attached” basis, and advisers will not hand out business cards or sell products or services, the statement says.

“As an organization that believes all people can benefit from financial planning, we are honored to have this opportunity to bring this day of free, no strings attached services to the city of Stamford. We encourage everybody to come find the answers they need to their financial questions on April 30th," Christopher Tasik, Stamford Financial Planning Day Steering Committee chairman, said in the statement.

The city of Stamford is organizing the event in a partnership with the Fairfield County Chapter of the Financial Planning Association as part of a nationwide initiative started by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Financial Planning Association, Foundation for Financial Planning, and the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

Registration can be done online or by calling 1-877-861-7826 before April 30. People can also walk-in and register before 9 a.m. Free parking is available in the UConn-Stamford parking garage on Washington Boulevard.
