Foundation Honors Girls Who Died in Stamford Fire

STAMFORD, Conn. — The legacy of the three sisters who died in a Christmas Day fire will be love, their mother Madonna Badger said at their funeral Thursday. She asked the mourners to put that love in action.

One way to do that would be by donating in the girls’ memory to the Other 364 Foundation, says the website for Badger's company, the Badger and Winter’s Group

“We could talk all day about love, but love without service is not enough,” Badger said in her eulogy Thursday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in New York City.

The foundation’s mission is “to champion compassion every day,” the website says.

The three girls, Lily, 10, and twins Sarah and Grace, 7, died Christmas morning, when the family’s Shippan Point home caught fire. Badger’s parents, Lomer and Pauline Johnson, also died in the blaze.

The initial investigation found the fire was started when embers from the fireplace were placed in a bag and discarded in the rear of the house. Badger and friend Michael Borcina were the only survivors of the blaze.

Checks can be made out to the Other 364 Foundation c/o Badger & Winter’s Group, 135 Fifth Ave., 3rd floor, New York, NY 10010. You can also send email to love@badgerfamilysupport.com
