Family Centers Clients Prepare for Job Market

With nationwide unemployment levels soaring, out-of-work Fairfield County residents can use all the help they can get. Employees at Stamford’ Crane Co. gave five Greenwich Family Centers clients valuable insight into the interview process and helped strengthen the skills they need to land jobs and succeed in the business world.

The clients are enrolled in the center’s Reaching Independence Through Employment program. During the Job Readiness Day, program clients toured the Crane headquarters in Stamford, met with top executives, had their resumes evaluated and participated in job shadowing and mock interviews.

After a five-year hiatus, Family Centers brought the program back to Stamford and the Crane Co. through a grant from the Crane Fund for Widows and Children.

The Reaching Independence Through Employment program offers educational enhancement opportunities, resume-writing and interview tips, referral services and English as a Second Language classes. Sine the program began in 1996, it has helped thousands of people throughout Fairfield County find jobs, improve their employability and achieve a greater sense of self-sufficiency.
