Ex-Stamford School Aide Charged in Identity Theft

STAMFORD, Conn. – A former Stamford teachers aide was arrested Monday and charged with stealing and using the credit card of a teacher she worked with last May, Sgt. Andrew Gallagher said. Charlotte Gore, 22, was taken into custody after meeting with her probation officer, he said.

Last spring, a teacher at Northeast Elementary School found that cash and a credit card had been taken from her purse, Gallagher said. He quoted the teacher as saying that only she and Gore had access to the purse.

Police said Gore had paid her cell phone bill and made an online purchase at Victoria Secret using the credit card. Using the two charges, they were able to obtain her West Haven address and issue a warrant, he said. A total of $700 in charges was made, police said.

Gore was charged with two counts of third-degree identity theft, illegal use of a credit card, attempt to commit fifth-degree larceny, illegal use of a credit card and sixth-degree larceny, police said. She posted a $5,000 bond and has an Oct. 17 court date, Gallagher said.
