Edward Kocot, 90, Yacht Painter

A graveside service was held Friday for Edward Kocot, a lifelong Stamford resident. Kocot died at the William and Sally Tandet Center for Continuing Care in Stamford on Nov. 16 at the age of 90. He was born Sept. 30, 1920. He was a skillful painter who developed a commercial specialty. Kocot applied his expertise to painting yachts for a living. He worked at Yacht Haven for a number of years before retiring. His favorite sport was not a watersport, however, but golfing. Throughout his life, his family held primary importance. Kocot was predeceased by his wife, Jenny Piwkowska Kocot. He is survived by his daughter, Christine Ann Kocot of Stamford. Donations in Kocot's memory may be made to St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Restoration Fund, 566 Elm St., Stamford.
