Edward Andersen, WWII Veteran

Stamford resident Edward Andersen was a man with a warm sense of humor. He always could be counted on to make a joke or lighthearted observation. That was one of the ways he enhanced the lives of people around him. On Saturday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. a memorial service will be held for Andersen at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. Andersen died Dec. 10 at the age of 84. He was born in New Haven on March 1, 1926, and served in the military during World War II. Andersen was a member of the U.S. Air Force, serving as a staff sergeant and flight engineer. His post-military life included working as a construction supervisor at Collin’s Development Corp., a position from which he retired in 1976. He was a devout Jehovah’s Witness, and often could be found discussing Bible passages with relatives, friends and acquaintances. Andersen was married to his wife Marion Jean for 61 years. She survives him, along with sons Douglas of Burnsville, Minn., and Gordon of Coahoma, Texas, and six grandchildren.
