Early Morning Blaze Extinguished in Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. — A fire on Southfield Avenue was quickly extinguished by Stamford Fire & Rescue on Friday morning, Capt. Anthony Milone said.

The fire started on the balcony of a fourth-floor apartment and never made it to the apartment “cause we stopped it,” Milone said. The first engine was on the scene in about three minutes, and the interior sprinkler also helped put out the fire in about 20 minutes, he added.

The blaze began at 9:15 a.m., and the damage to the wooden balcony was minimal, Milone said.

The cause was being investigated, he said.
